Springbrook Golf Course Practice Facility Renovation

Beginning August 1, the practice facilities at Springbrook Golf Course will be closed for renovations. This project includes:

  • Reconstruction and expansion of the driving range tee This will result in a larger, better draining and level tee with the newest variety of low-cut bluegrass to provide an excellent and tight teeing surface, minimize wear and tear, and look and play exceptionally well during the entire golf season.
  • Relocation and expansion of the practice green – A new green will be built adjacent to the driving range tee on the site where the first tee is currently. The new green will be larger and less contoured than the previous green, thereby providing more practice space.
  • Addition of a new chipping and short game area – This addition will include a new chipping green, practice bunker and chipping area. These greens will remain closed through the end of the 2016 season and likely will open sometime in May 2017. The current chipping green on the east side of the parking lot will remain open.
  • Relocation of the first tee – The first tee will close on August 1 in preparation to move the new first tee farther south. It will be constructed in the area around the north half of the existing practice green. Cart paths will then be added to the south of the tee, keeping the traffic for the driving range and first tee separated and giving the starter better control of the traffic at the first tee. Temporary tees near the 250 to 270 yard range will be used in the interim. The new first tees are scheduled to be available in early 2017.

The goals of this project are to:

  • Expand and improve the driving range tee and practice green
  • Add another chipping green
  • Improve the overall traffic flow of the first tee and practice areas

Construction areas will be fenced off during the project to maintain safety for golfers and workers.  Signs directing traffic will be posted to help golfers find the first tee and maneuver around the construction. With good weather and minimal delays we are scheduled to be finished with the construction phases of the project by late September.  Growth of turf areas should be completed by spring 2017.
